Bandhan Mutual Fund has added gold and silver ETF exposure to select equity and hybrid schemes. The move includes allocation to precious metals within existing portfolios.

Equity mutual fund presence across states has expanded. The top 20 states saw average AUM rise 2.6 times to ₹39.6 lakh crore since FY2022. Maharashtra continues to lead, with equity AAUM increasing from ₹4.88 lakh crore in FY22 to ₹12.44 lakh crore in FY26.

Regulatory & policy developments

A SEBI panel has recommended that NSE pay $193 million to settle pending cases. The proposal is part of ongoing efforts to resolve long-standing matters.

SEBI has introduced changes in leveraged trading, focusing on margin trading mechanisms. The changes come as F&O-related activity adjusts to evolving regulations.

Regulatory measures have also supported growth in the corporate bond market. Secondary market volumes increased by 30% to ₹22.07 lakh crore in FY26, supported by participation and platform access.

Market views remain mixed across segments. According to INVasset PMS, mid and small-cap stocks are seeing relatively lower foreign investor selling compared to large caps.

Foreign investor activity and global cues continue to influence sentiment, with recent trends indicating cautious positioning.

Markets & sectoral trends

Indian equity markets declined on April 22, 2026. The Sensex fell over 750 points and the Nifty slipped below 24,500.

The decline followed uncertainty around US–Iran discussions, along with pressure from global cues and crude oil prices.

GIFT Nifty also indicated a weak trend, reflecting cautious sentiment in the market.

Corporate actions, capital flows & business developments

Trent’s board is set to consider its first-ever bonus issue and dividend for FY2026.

Aurobindo Pharma announced a ₹800 crore buyback, which will open on April 23 and close on April 29.

Kajaria Ceramics will consider a share buyback and dividend on April 30.

In global developments, Adobe announced a $25 billion share buyback.

Cognizant has partnered with OpenAI to integrate Codex into enterprise software development.

Amazon has entered into a $30 million agreement to purchase carbon credits from rice farmers in India.

India may allow testing of higher ethanol blends (E85–E100) beyond the current E20 framework.
